About Vancouver Community College (VCC)
Vancouver Community College (VCC) is a public college in Vancouver, BC, founded in 1965, offering certificates, diplomas, and bachelor's degrees with strong industry ties.
Vancouver Community College (VCC) is a publicly funded post-secondary institution in Vancouver, British Columbia, established in 1965 as the province's first community college. It serves over 15,000 full- and part-time students annually across two campuses, Broadway and Downtown, and offers 79 certificate programs, 24 diploma programs, 3 bachelor's degrees, and 2 associate degrees.
VCC is particularly well regarded for its applied and trades-focused training. It operates Western Canada's largest culinary school, alongside strong programs in health sciences (dental technology, health care assistant, occupational therapist assistant), technology (computer systems, cybersecurity, digital marketing), hospitality management, and skilled trades. The college runs student-operated training facilities including restaurants, a dental clinic, a salon, and an auto shop, giving learners direct hands-on industry experience.
Both campuses are centrally located in Vancouver with direct access to SkyTrain rapid transit. VCC does not offer on-campus student housing. International students made up approximately 26% of the student body as of the 2022–23 academic year, and the college is a Designated Learning Institution (DLI) recognised by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.

For Nepali students
Downtown Vancouver location — excellent access to Vancouver's job market and Nepali community. Strong in Culinary, Hospitality, Health, Business, and IT. Popular with Nepali students choosing Vancouver on a tighter budget than BCIT.
- VCC's PGWP-eligible diploma and degree programs, including accounting, computer systems technology, health care assistant, and culinary arts, allow graduates to apply for a Post-Graduation Work Permit of up to three years, giving Nepali students a direct pathway to Canadian work experience and potential permanent residency.
- International tuition at VCC ranges from approximately CAD 12,200 to CAD 30,700 per year depending on program, placing it at a significantly lower cost tier than most Canadian universities, an important consideration for Nepali families managing overseas education expenses.
- VCC awards scholarships and bursaries through the VCC Foundation, and the college participates in the UMAP scholarship exchange program; prospective Nepali students should check the VCC Online Awards Guide for awards open to international applicants.
- Vancouver's established South Asian and Nepali diaspora community, combined with VCC's practical, employment-focused programs in healthcare, technology, and trades, sectors with strong Canadian labour demand, makes VCC a pragmatic choice for students seeking skills-based credentials over traditional degree pathways.
