About Professionshøjskolen Absalon

Professionshøjskolen Absalon is a Danish university college (professionshøjskole) established in 2017 through the merger of University College Sjælland and University College Metropol. Operating from campuses in Roskilde, Næstved, Sorø, Vordingborg, and Copenhagen, Absalon trains professionals in nursing, social work, teacher education, physiotherapy, and nutrition — the backbone professions of Denmark's world-class welfare state. With 12,000 students across Zealand, Absalon is one of Denmark's largest university colleges.

For international students, Absalon offers English-medium programs in health sciences and social care — fields where Denmark's ageing population creates sustained graduate employment demand. Nursing and healthcare programs connect directly to Danish hospitals and municipal care systems, and graduates are eligible to register with the Danish health authority (Styrelsen for Patientsikkerhed). The Roskilde main campus is 30 minutes from Copenhagen by train, combining regional affordability with capital city access.
