University of the West of England (UWE Bristol) is a large public university founded in 1992, located on three campuses in Bristol, England. With around 37,700 students from over 163 countries, it is one of the largest providers of higher education in South West England and holds a Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) Gold rating for student experience.
UWE Bristol is particularly recognised for engineering and technology: it is home to the Bristol Robotics Laboratory, described as the UK's most comprehensive multi-disciplinary robotics research centre. Its aerospace engineering programmes have partnerships with Airbus, Rolls-Royce, GE Aviation, and Leonardo Helicopters, giving students direct industry exposure. The university also runs one of the largest law schools in the country, and 84% of its research impact was rated world-leading or internationally excellent in the 2021 Research Excellence Framework.
The main Frenchay Campus is located in north Bristol, about 4 km from the city centre. Bristol is a diverse, student-friendly city consistently ranked among the best places to live in the UK.
