Updated for the 2025 system
Nepal postal codes, by district
Nepal Post overhauled the postal code system in 2025 to match the federal province/district/local-body structure. Most sites online — including several dedicated zip-code lookups — still show the old 1991 codes. These are current, sourced directly from Nepal Post (GPO).
What changed: the old flat 5-digit code (like the commonly-cited “44600” for Kathmandu) is retired. The new code layers Province → District → Local Body → Ward, so an address now resolves down to the exact ward. If you’re filling out a courier form, an NRB remittance form, or an embassy/visa address field, use the current code for your ward or local body below, not an old district-wide code.
Koshi Province(14 districts)
Madhesh Province(8 districts)
Bagmati Province(13 districts)
Gandaki Province(11 districts)
Lumbini Province(12 districts)
Karnali Province(10 districts)
Sudurpashchim Province(9 districts)
Need your postal code for a visa or forex form?
NRB remittance forms, courier shipments for document attestation, and some embassy address fields ask for your postal/ward code. Find your district above, then look up your specific ward.
