Convert between BS and AD dates

Wednesday

Bikram Sambat

Asar 31, 2083

Gregorian (AD)

July 15, 2026

How it works

  1. 1

    Pick a direction

Switch between BS → AD (most common — converting a Nepali document date) or AD → BS.

  2. 2

    Enter the date

Select year, month, and day for BS, or use the date picker for AD.

  3. 3

    Read off both calendars

The result shows the exact equivalent date in both calendars, plus the day of the week — copy it straight into a form.

Methodology: Conversion uses the officially published Bikram Sambat calendar month-length data (each BS month's day count is set by the Nepal government's calendar, not a fixed pattern like the Gregorian calendar). Covers BS years 2000–2089 (roughly 1943–2033 AD).

Frequently asked questions

Why do I need to convert my date of birth for a study abroad application?+

Nepali citizenship certificates, SEE/SLC certificates, and NEB transcripts show your date of birth in the Bikram Sambat (BS) calendar. Foreign universities, embassies, and visa forms all expect the Gregorian (AD) calendar. If your passport already shows an AD date, use that — but if you're filling out a form directly from your citizenship or academic certificate, you'll need to convert the BS date first.

Is the AD date of birth on my passport always correct?+

It should be, since passports are issued using AD dates directly, but always cross-check it against this converter using the BS date on your citizenship certificate. If they don't match, get it corrected before submitting any study abroad application — a date mismatch between your passport and other documents is a common cause of NOC and visa delays.

Why doesn't the Bikram Sambat calendar have a fixed number of days per month?+

Unlike the Gregorian calendar, where month lengths are fixed (except February), Bikram Sambat months are based on the actual astronomical length of each lunar-solar cycle and can vary by up to a couple of days from year to year. Baisakh in one year might have 30 days and 31 in the next. This is why date converters use a published calendar table rather than a simple formula.

What year range does this converter support?+

BS years 2000 to 2089, which covers roughly 1943 to 2033 in the Gregorian calendar — enough for anyone's date of birth and for any near-future planning dates like visa or intake deadlines.

My transcript shows a BS date range for my academic year, not a single date — what do I convert?+

For admission and NOC purposes, universities and MoEST typically only need your date of birth converted, not your academic year dates. If a specific form asks for graduation date in AD, convert the exact BS graduation date shown on your final transcript or certificate, not the academic year label.
