About South East Technological University (SETU)
South East Technological University (SETU) was established in 2022 through the merger of Waterford Institute of Technology and IT Carlow, creating a major new technological university for Ireland's south-east region. SETU operates campuses in Waterford, Carlow, Wicklow, and Wexford — serving an economically important region that includes Waterford's pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturing sector. Programs span engineering, computing, business, art and design, science, humanities, and health science.
SETU's Waterford campus in particular benefits from proximity to major employers including GlaxoSmithKline, Bausch + Lomb, Genzyme, and Sanofi — all operating manufacturing facilities in the Waterford region.
