For Nepali students
- Nepali students applying to non-EU master's programmes can compete for the Amsterdam Merit Scholarship (AMS), which covers tuition fees up to €25,900 for one academic year, making an otherwise expensive degree substantially more affordable for high-achieving applicants.
- UvA's globally ranked programmes in social sciences, economics, psychology, and data science align well with fields where Nepali students frequently seek international credentials, and the near-200 English-taught master's catalogue means language barriers at entry are minimal.
- After graduating, international students are eligible for the Netherlands Orientation Year (zoekjaar) permit, a one-year post-study work authorisation that requires no job offer or salary threshold, giving UvA graduates a meaningful window to find employment in the Netherlands or the broader EU.
- With 37% of its 46,000 students coming from outside the Netherlands, UvA has a large and diverse international student community, reducing the cultural isolation that smaller Dutch universities can present; Amsterdam also hosts an established South and Southeast Asian expatriate community.
