Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (HUFS), founded 1954 in Seoul, is South Korea's leading university for foreign languages, teaching 45 languages across two campuses.

Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (HUFS) was established in 1954 in Seoul, South Korea, and has grown into the country's foremost institution for language studies and international affairs. The university operates two campuses, the main Seoul Campus in Dongdaemun-gu and a Global Campus in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province.

HUFS offers instruction in 45 foreign languages, a distinction unmatched by any other Korean university, and is particularly strong in humanities, political science, international studies, and business. Its Graduate School of Interpretation and Translation (founded 1979) is one of the most respected in Asia, and the Graduate School of International and Area Studies (GSIAS) draws students from across the world. The university maintains academic exchange agreements with 431 universities across 88 countries.

HUFS is ranked =680 in the QS World University Rankings 2026 and 21st nationally in South Korea. With approximately 26% of its student body comprising international students, the campus has a genuinely international atmosphere. Its signature '7+1 Study Abroad Program' requires students to spend at least one of their eight semesters studying at a partner university abroad.
