About Keimyung University
Keimyung University is a private Christian university in Daegu, South Korea, founded in 1954 with 14 colleges and a medical school.
Keimyung University (KMU) is a private Christian institution founded in 1954 in Daegu, South Korea's fourth-largest city. Spread across three campuses, Daemyeong, Seongseo, and Dongsan, the university operates 14 undergraduate colleges and 8 graduate schools, enrolling approximately 20,000 students. The Dongsan campus houses Dongsan Medical Center, whose history extends to 1899.
KMU is particularly strong in health sciences, with colleges of medicine, nursing, and pharmacy supported by its on-campus hospital. Engineering spans 16 departments, and the Keimyung Adams College offers an English-medium honours program. The university maintains exchange partnerships with over 400 institutions worldwide and hosts the Asia Pacific International Chopin Piano Competition through a dual-degree partnership with Warsaw's Chopin University of Music.
Daegu is a mid-sized Korean city with a lower cost of living than Seoul, offering students access to urban amenities without the capital-city price premium. KMU ranked in the QS Asian University Rankings 2025 at the =580 band, placing it among the internationally recognised mid-tier Korean universities.
For Nepali students
- KMU offers tiered admission scholarships for international students based on TOPIK Korean proficiency: 100% tuition waiver for TOPIK Level 5 or above, 70% for Level 4, and 50% for Level 3, making it financially accessible for motivated Nepali students who invest in Korean language study before arrival.
- Annual international undergraduate tuition starts from approximately USD 5,000, which is significantly lower than comparable private universities in Australia, the UK, or Canada, keeping total study costs manageable for Nepali families.
- South Korea's post-study pathways include a D-10 job-search visa allowing graduates to remain and seek employment, and an E-7 skilled worker visa for those securing job offers, particularly relevant for KMU graduates in engineering, IT, and health sciences.
- KMU hosts over 2,300 international students (roughly 12% of its student body) and has long-standing relationships with South Asian and Southeast Asian partner institutions, meaning Nepali students will find a diverse international community rather than an isolated experience.
