About Korea University
Korea University, founded in 1905, is one of South Korea's elite SKY universities, ranked #61 globally in QS 2026.
Korea University (고려대학교) was founded in 1905 as Bosung College, making it one of South Korea's oldest modern universities. It is a member of the SKY group, the acronym for Seoul National University, Korea University, and Yonsei University, widely regarded as South Korea's three most prestigious institutions. The university enrolls approximately 31,000 students across 27 colleges and schools at its main campus in Seongbuk District, Seoul.
The university is particularly recognised for its business school, which holds AACSB accreditation at both undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as for its College of Law, College of Medicine, College of Engineering, and College of International Studies. In recent years the university has expanded capacity in high-demand fields including Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, and Semiconductor Engineering, often through industry partnership tracks with major Korean corporations.
Korea University's Anam campus covers a compact urban hillside in northern Seoul, characterised by Gothic-style stone buildings. The university is well connected to central Seoul by subway. Internationally, it ranks 61st in the QS World University Rankings 2026 and 12th in the QS Asia Rankings 2026, consistently placing it among the top 100 universities worldwide.

- Graduates of Korea University qualify for South Korea's D-10-1 Job Seeker Visa for up to two years after graduation, allowing time to find employment in Korea's large technology, manufacturing, and finance sectors before transitioning to an E-7 work visa; as a QS top-200 university graduate under age 29, alumni are exempt from the standard points and financial requirements for the D-10-1.
- Korea University's College of International Studies and its engineering and business programs attract a sizable international student body, approximately 6,200 international students out of roughly 22,000 enrolled, providing a multicultural environment that eases the transition for South Asian students, even in the absence of a large established Nepali community.
