Sookmyung Women's University is a private women's research university located in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, founded in 1906 as Korea's first royal private educational institution for women. The university celebrated its 120th anniversary in 2025 and has grown to enroll approximately 12,500 students across 10 undergraduate colleges, including Liberal Arts, Science, Engineering, Law, Economics and Business Administration, Music, Pharmacy, and Fine Arts.
Academic strengths include the Hallyu International College, which focuses on Korean Wave culture and global media, and a Global Cooperation and Entrepreneurship program taught in English. Sookmyung was the first Korean university to introduce dual degree programs, and it maintains academic partnerships with 433 institutions across 62 countries. The Graduate School of Professional Studies includes a distinctive Le Cordon Bleu Hospitality MBA.
The main campus sits on 68,334 square meters in central Seoul, accessible via Seoul Metro Line 4 (Sookmyung Women's University station).
