About Bucks County Community College

Community college in Pennsylvania near Philadelphia. Strong transfer programs and hands-on technical training.

Bucks County Community College (BCCC) is a public two-year institution founded in 1964 in Newtown, Pennsylvania, about 30 miles north of Philadelphia. It operates three campuses, Newtown, Bristol, and Perkasie, plus an online division, and enrolls approximately 6,232 students as of 2024. The college follows an open-admission policy with no SAT score requirement.

BCCC offers 56 associate degree programs and 21 certificate programs spanning business, health sciences, information technology, liberal arts, and public safety. Its strongest vocational tracks include nursing and allied health, early childhood education, and computer information systems. More than 16 percent of all Bucks County high school graduates attend the college each year, reflecting its central role in the region.

The main Newtown campus sits in suburban Bucks County, a county in the Philadelphia metropolitan area with a relatively low cost of living compared to the city itself. The college has articulation agreements with all 14 Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education universities and numerous private institutions including Drexel University and La Salle University, enabling students to transfer credits toward a four-year bachelor's degree.

For Nepali students

  • BCCC offers one of the lowest-cost entry points into the US higher education system for Nepali students on an F-1 visa: out-of-state tuition runs approximately $495 per credit hour (2025–26), working out to roughly $14,850–$17,460 annually for a full-time load, a fraction of most four-year university costs in the US.
  • The college's strong transfer framework, including guaranteed credit transfer under Pennsylvania's statewide PA Transfer Credit Framework, means a Nepali student can complete two years at BCCC and then transfer to a PASSHE university or a school like Drexel with all general education credits recognised, significantly reducing the total cost of a US bachelor's degree.
  • F-1 students at BCCC are eligible for Curricular Practical Training (CPT) and, upon transferring to a qualifying four-year institution, can access Optional Practical Training (OPT) including the 24-month STEM OPT extension for science and technology graduates, providing post-study work rights in the US.
  • The dedicated international student office ([email protected]) provides F-1 visa advising and enrollment support, making the admission process accessible for students coming directly from Nepal without prior US study experience.
