About Chaffey College
Community college in Ontario, CA. Strong transfer pathways to UC/CSU and excellent healthcare programs.
Chaffey College is a public two-year community college founded in 1883 and accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC). It serves approximately 29,000 students annually across three campuses in Rancho Cucamonga, Chino, and Fontana in California's Inland Empire region. The college is federally designated as a Hispanic-Serving Institution.
Chaffey offers 28 Associate Degrees for Transfer (ADTs) aligned with UC and CSU articulation agreements, alongside career and technical education certificates in fields such as business, applied technology, nursing, and health sciences. Health sciences programs and select career-technical programs carry additional industry-specific accreditation. In 2024–2025 the college received recognition for transfer equity, with 66 percent of associate degrees awarded being transfer degrees.
The main campus sits on 200 acres in Rancho Cucamonga, roughly one hour east of Los Angeles in San Bernardino County. The college maintains a dedicated International Student Center that supports F-1 visa students through admissions, orientation, and ongoing advising. For Nepali students
- Chaffey's guaranteed transfer admission pathways to six UC campuses (Davis, Irvine, Merced, Riverside, Santa Barbara, Santa Cruz) and the CSU system give Nepali students a lower-cost route into California's top public universities, with annual international tuition of approximately USD 11,040 (plus fees) compared to direct UC/CSU admission costs.
- The total estimated annual cost for an international student is around USD 31,252 including mandatory health insurance and living expenses, significantly lower than attending a four-year U.S. university directly, making it one of the more affordable entry points into the American higher education system.
- F-1 students who later transfer to a four-year U.S. university and graduate become eligible for Optional Practical Training (OPT), up to 12 months of work authorization, or 36 months for STEM graduates, providing a clear post-study work pathway in the U.S.
- The college's proximity to Los Angeles and its large South/Southeast Asian student population in the Inland Empire region provides a supportive community context for Nepali students new to California.
