About Cosumnes River College
Community college in Sacramento, CA. Strong transfer pathways to UC/CSU.
Cosumnes River College (CRC) is a public two-year community college in Sacramento, California, founded in 1970 and one of four colleges in the Los Rios Community College District. It is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and enrolled approximately 17,534 students as of Fall 2025. The college issues F-1 visas through its International Students Office and is approved by USCIS to issue I-20 documents.
CRC offers associate degrees, certificates, and associate degrees for transfer (AD-T) across fields including business, computer science, health occupations, pharmacy technology, construction technology, digital media, journalism, and veterinary technology. Its transfer degree programs guarantee admission with junior standing to California State University (CSU) campuses, and courses are articulated for transfer to University of California (UC) campuses as well.
The main campus sits in Sacramento with a satellite campus in Elk Grove. Sacramento is California's state capital and a major urban center with strong healthcare, government, and technology employment sectors. CRC has no on-campus housing, so students arrange private accommodation in the greater Sacramento area.

For Nepali students
- CRC offers one of the most affordable entry points into the US higher education system for Nepali students: international tuition is approximately $475 per unit (roughly $12,600 per year for a full course load), which is substantially lower than four-year university fees, making it a cost-effective first step toward a US bachelor's degree.
- The college's AD-T pathway guarantees admission with junior standing to CSU campuses, allowing Nepali students to complete their first two years at CRC and then transfer into a four-year degree, a structured, lower-cost route to a US bachelor's that avoids the high freshman-year fees of major universities.
- International students on F-1 visas can work up to 20 hours per week on campus during the academic year and full-time during summer, providing partial income support, and can pursue Optional Practical Training (OPT) after completing their program for post-study work experience in the US.
- Sacramento's diverse population and CRC's active International Students Office provide institutional support for newcomers; the city's lower cost of living compared to the Bay Area or Los Angeles makes it more manageable for Nepali students on a tight budget.
