Grand Valley State University (GVSU) is a public comprehensive university established in 1960 in Allendale, Michigan, about 12 miles west of Grand Rapids. It enrolls approximately 22,000 students and offers 107 undergraduate and 45 graduate degree programs across eight academic colleges, spanning more than 350 areas of study.
GVSU is particularly strong in business, engineering, health sciences, and education. Its Seidman College of Business and Padnos College of Engineering and Computing are among its most sought-after units. The university maintains a 14:1 student-to-faculty ratio with an average class size of 25, and one in four students participates in faculty-led research.
The main campus in Allendale is supplemented by a City Campus in downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan's second-largest city and a hub for healthcare, manufacturing, and technology employers. GVSU competes in NCAA Division II athletics with 34 national championships and has a 94% graduate employment or further-study rate.
