Longwood University is a public liberal arts university located in Farmville, Virginia, founded in 1839. It enrolls approximately 5,029 students as of 2025-26, with the student body split between 3,314 undergraduates and 1,298 graduate students. The university offers more than 100 undergraduate and graduate programs through its colleges of Arts and Sciences, Business and Economics, and Education and Human Services.
Longwood's academic identity is built around its Civitae Core Curriculum, a liberal arts foundation that emphasises critical thinking, written and oral communication, and civic responsibility. Strongest undergraduate programs include Business Administration, Education, Psychology, Communication Sciences and Disorders, and Computer Science. The Cormier Honors College offers an intensive research and leadership track with up to two full-tuition scholarships annually.
