For Nepali students
- Oakland University's STEM-designated programs in Computer Science, Data Science, Cybersecurity, and Engineering qualify graduates for the 24-month STEM OPT extension on top of the standard 12-month OPT, giving Nepali students up to three years of US work authorization after graduation, a significant advantage for career-building in the Detroit tech and automotive sector.
- International undergraduate tuition is approximately $19,800 per year, which is notably lower than many comparable US public universities, making it a more affordable option for Nepali families funding studies abroad without institutional scholarships.
- With over 900 international students on campus, OU's International Students and Scholars Office (ISSO) provides dedicated support for visa, OPT, and CPT processes. English proficiency entry requirements (TOEFL iBT 79+, IELTS 6.5+) are standard and achievable for well-prepared Nepali applicants.
- Nepali students interested in engineering or computer science benefit from OU's direct industry connections with Detroit-area companies for internships and cooperative education, providing practical US work experience that strengthens post-graduation employment prospects.
