For Nepali students

  • Palomar College is one of the most affordable entry points into the US higher education system for Nepali students: international tuition is approximately $10,300 per academic year (12 units per semester at $423/unit for 2026-27), and the estimated total annual budget including living costs is around $28,000-$30,500, substantially lower than four-year university rates.
  • The Transfer Admissions Guarantee program allows students who complete two years at Palomar to gain guaranteed admission to six University of California campuses, making it a viable and cost-effective pathway to a UC degree for Nepali students who may not qualify directly for a four-year research university.
  • International students on an F-1 visa are eligible to work on-campus up to 20 hours per week during the semester, and after transferring to and graduating from a four-year US university, STEM graduates can apply for a 3-year OPT extension, Palomar's computer science, engineering-transfer, and nursing pathways feed directly into STEM-eligible degrees.
  • The International Student Program offers dedicated admissions support, orientation, visa guidance, and student organizations, which can ease the transition for Nepali students arriving in the US for the first time. The Palomar College Foundation awarded over $501,000 in scholarships in 2024-25; students should check eligibility directly with the financial aid office, as some private scholarships on campus are open to international students.
