About Rider University
Private university in New Jersey. Strong business, liberal arts, and education programs.
Rider University is a private, non-profit university founded in 1865, located on a 280-acre suburban campus in Lawrenceville, New Jersey, about 60 miles from New York City and 30 miles from Philadelphia. It enrolls approximately 4,000 students across undergraduate and graduate programs.
The university is organized into three colleges: the Norm Brodsky College of Business, the College of Arts and Sciences, and the College of Education and Human Services. The Norm Brodsky College of Business holds dual AACSB accreditation in both business and accounting, a distinction shared by fewer than 2% of business schools worldwide and only one other institution in New Jersey. Business programs span 16 undergraduate majors with accelerated pathways and graduate options including MBA specializations in business analytics, finance, information systems, and sports management.
Rider's campus is suburban and residential, with a student-to-faculty ratio of 14:1 that keeps class sizes manageable. The university emphasizes experiential learning through internships, research projects, and capstone courses. It is ranked No. 45 among Regional Universities North and No. 16 in Best Value Schools by U.S. News & World Report for 2026.

For Nepali students
- The Norm Brodsky College of Business, with its rare dual AACSB accreditation and MBA tracks in finance and business analytics, is directly relevant for Nepali students seeking globally recognized business credentials at a moderate cost tier compared to large US research universities.
- Rider offers merit scholarships to incoming international undergraduates of up to $22,000 per year (up to $88,000 over four years), which meaningfully offsets the listed tuition of approximately $41,120 per year; 94% of undergraduates receive some form of grant or scholarship aid.
- F-1 students at Rider are eligible for standard 12-month post-graduation OPT, giving them one year of US work authorization after completing their degree; students in qualifying STEM programs may be eligible for a 24-month STEM OPT extension, providing up to three years of US work experience.
- The university's proximity to the New York and Philadelphia metropolitan corridors broadens internship and job-placement opportunities in finance, consulting, and technology, sectors where Nepali graduates with US business degrees are increasingly competitive.
