San José City College (SJCC) is a public two-year community college located in San Jose, California, accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC). Founded over 100 years ago, it operates under the San Jose–Evergreen Community College District and follows an open-admission policy.

SJCC offers associate degrees, certificates, and transfer pathways across seven broad program areas: Business, Economics, IT and Digital Media; Healthcare and Human Services; Humanities, Social Sciences, and Education; Industrial and Technical Careers; Languages and Communication; STEM; and Visual and Performing Arts. The college has articulation agreements that allow students to transfer to California State University (CSU) and University of California (UC) campuses after completing an Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT).

For Nepali students

  • Annual international tuition and fees total approximately $10,518 for 2026–27 (for 12 units per semester), making SJCC one of the most affordable F-1 visa pathways into the U.S. higher-education system, a significant advantage for Nepali families managing overseas education costs.
  • Nepali students holding an F-1 visa can work up to 20 hours per week on campus and access Curricular Practical Training (CPT) and Optional Practical Training (OPT) tied to their program, providing legitimate work experience in Silicon Valley during and after study.
  • The college's transfer pathway programs to CSU and UC campuses mean a Nepali student can complete general education and prerequisite courses at low cost at SJCC, then transfer to a higher-ranked four-year university, reducing total degree costs substantially.
  • No SAT, ACT, or minimum GPA is required for admission, and TOEFL or IELTS scores are accepted for English proficiency, keeping the entry barrier low for recent Nepali high school graduates or diploma holders.
