About Shoreline Community College
Community college near Seattle, WA. Strong transfer programs serving Seattle area.
Shoreline Community College is a public two-year college founded in 1964 and located in Shoreline, Washington, approximately 10 miles north of Seattle. It enrolls around 12,000 full- and part-time students and draws international students from 45 countries. The college is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities and officially rebranded as Shoreline College in 2025.
The college offers more than 100 professional, technical, and workforce training degrees and certificates, alongside transfer degree programs that prepare students to move into the junior year at four-year universities. Standout programs include Dental Hygiene (offered as a Bachelor of Applied Science), Alternative Fuels Technology, and a broad range of STEM and business pathways. The institution has transfer admission guarantee agreements with 28 universities, including the University of Washington Bothell and Tacoma, Washington State University, University of Oregon, Arizona State University, and Temple University.
The campus spans 83 acres, land donated by the Boeing family, and sits in a suburban setting with direct transit links to downtown Seattle. Its scale and proximity to Seattle's technology and healthcare industries give students practical access to internships and career opportunities in one of the US's fastest-growing metro areas.

Optional Practical Training (OPT)

For Nepali students
- Shoreline is ranked among the top 15 US community colleges for international student enrollment, meaning established support infrastructure, dedicated international advisors, ESL and English for Academic Purposes courses, and an international student office, is already in place for students arriving without near-native English.
- Annual international undergraduate tuition is approximately $11,928 (three quarters at $3,761 per quarter plus fees), making it one of the most affordable US pathways: the college estimates a full first-year cost of attendance at $24,963 including housing and health insurance, a fraction of direct university fees in the US.
- All new international applicants are automatically considered for institutional scholarships of $500–$2,000 per year, distributed quarterly, a modest but accessible award that requires only an essay or short video as part of the standard application, with no separate scholarship application needed.
- The transfer guarantee network, covering universities such as the University of Washington, Washington State University, and University of Oregon, gives Nepali students a lower-cost, lower-risk route to a recognised US bachelor's degree, and graduates who study on an F-1 visa remain eligible for 12-month Optional Practical Training (OPT) after completing their associate or bachelor's degree.
