Optional Practical Training (OPT)

For Nepali students
- UMSL's nationally ranked cybersecurity and business programs qualify graduates for the 24-month STEM OPT extension on top of the standard 12-month OPT, giving Nepali students up to 3 years of US work authorization after graduation, a significant pathway toward long-term career prospects.
- The university automatically considers all F-1 international applicants for International Merit Scholarships with no separate application required, reducing tuition costs for high-performing students at an institution Forbes already rates the most affordable four-year university in Missouri.
- Annual international undergraduate tuition is approximately USD 37,000–40,000 depending on program, lower than flagship US public universities, making UMSL a cost-accessible option for Nepali families without compromising on accreditation quality (dual AACSB, for example).
- St. Louis hosts a growing South-Asian professional community, and UMSL's strong industry ties with regional employers in healthcare, technology, and financial services provide practical networking and internship opportunities for international students during their studies.
