For Nepali students
- WCU participates in North Carolina's NC Promise Tuition Plan, which capped non-resident (including international) undergraduate tuition and required fees at approximately $11,210 per academic year for students in the 2025-26 cohort, well below typical US public university out-of-state rates, making it one of the most cost-accessible four-year universities in the country for Nepali students.
- Programs in engineering technology, computer science, and health sciences at WCU qualify for the 17-month STEM OPT extension, giving graduates up to 36 months of US work authorization combined with the standard 12-month OPT period, which is a meaningful post-study pathway for F-1 visa holders.
- WCU offers merit scholarships that are open to international students at the undergraduate level, and graduate assistantships at the graduate level that typically include tuition remission and a stipend, reducing the overall cost burden further.
- The university's above-average Social Mobility ranking (#81 nationally) and an 81.6% first-year retention rate indicate a supportive academic environment, which can be particularly valuable for Nepali students arriving without a local support network.
