For Nepali students

  • YSU's annual international undergraduate tuition of approximately $12,600 makes it one of the more affordable public universities in the United States, significantly lower than the national average for international students.
  • Incoming international students are eligible for merit scholarships ranging from $1,000 (Access) to $7,000 (Scholar) per year based on GPA, and continuing international students can apply for annual awards of up to $2,000, reducing the effective cost of attendance further.
  • Engineering, business administration, and health sciences are strong programs at YSU that align well with the career goals of many Nepali students; graduates on F-1 visas are eligible for 12 months of Optional Practical Training (OPT), with STEM graduates in engineering and computing eligible for a 24-month OPT extension.
  • YSU's high acceptance rate (around 84%) and relatively straightforward admission process make it accessible for Nepali students who may not meet the highly selective thresholds of flagship US universities, while still providing a regionally accredited US degree and a pathway to post-study work.
