About TAFE Queensland
TAFE Queensland is the statutory authority parent body for TAFE technical and further education training in the Australian state of Queensland.
TAFE Queensland is the state government's largest vocational education and training (VET) provider, operating 54 campuses across Queensland from Brisbane to North Queensland. It trains over 125,000 students annually across 400+ programs, spanning certificates, diplomas, associate degrees, and a small number of bachelor degrees. As a CRICOS-registered public institution, it accepts international students into more than 170 courses.
Strong industry-linked program areas include nursing and allied health, hospitality management, business, cyber security, early childhood education, construction trades, and dental technology. Courses are structured around practical, hands-on training rather than academic research, and many are delivered in partnership with Queensland industry employers. The Diploma of Nursing, Diploma of Business, and Certificate III programs in trades and hospitality are among the most popular for international students.
The main Brisbane campuses are located at South Bank (creative and hospitality industries), Acacia Ridge (trades and SkillsTech), and Bracken Ridge. The broader Greater Brisbane network spans 14 sites from Caboolture in the north to Loganlea in the south. Brisbane is Australia's third-largest city and hosted the 2032 Summer Olympics, making Queensland an increasingly prominent destination for international students.

For Nepali students
- Nepal is explicitly listed among TAFE Queensland's top international student source countries, meaning Nepali students join an established cohort and benefit from peer networks and familiar student services pathways.
- Diploma and associate degree graduates from a CRICOS-registered TAFE Queensland program (minimum two academic years / 92 weeks) are eligible to apply for the Post-Vocational Education Work stream of the Australian Temporary Graduate visa (Subclass 485), providing up to 18 months of open work rights after graduation.
- Annual tuition for diploma-level programs ranges from approximately AUD 9,100 for hospitality to AUD 32,400 for nursing, placing TAFE Queensland considerably below the cost of most Australian universities, particularly relevant for Nepali families managing overseas education costs.
- Programs in aged care, community services, early childhood education, and nursing align with Australian skills-shortage occupations, which can support future migration pathways for graduates who wish to remain in Australia after their post-study visa.
