About Fudan University
Fudan University is a leading Chinese research university founded in 1905 in Shanghai, ranked #30 globally by QS 2026 and a member of China's elite C9 League.
Fudan University, founded in 1905, is one of China's oldest and most prestigious research universities, located in Shanghai. It is a member of the C9 League, China's equivalent of the Ivy League, and holds Double First Class status, the highest tier in China's national university classification system. The university operates across four campuses in Shanghai with 11 faculties, 40 directly affiliated schools and departments, and 18 affiliated hospitals.
Fudan's academic strengths span medicine, life sciences, economics, management, computer science, law, and the humanities. It offers 83 undergraduate specialties and holds authorization to confer doctoral degrees across 47 first-level disciplines. The School of Management and its medical programs are particularly well regarded in Asia, and Fudan researchers regularly publish in journals such as Nature, Science, and The Lancet.
The university's main campus is on Handan Road in Yangpu District, Shanghai, with the newer Jiangwan Campus housing several science and engineering facilities. Shanghai's status as China's financial and commercial hub gives Fudan students direct access to internship and industry connections across finance, technology, and healthcare sectors.

For Nepali students
- The Chinese Government Scholarship (CSC), which covers full tuition, accommodation, and a monthly living stipend, is open to Nepali students; Nepal's inclusion in Belt and Road Initiative partner countries makes Fudan a designated host institution for this fully funded award (Agency No. 10246).
- Annual tuition for standard undergraduate programs (arts and natural sciences) is approximately ¥23,000 CNY per year (roughly USD 3,200), making Fudan dramatically more affordable than comparable-ranked universities in the UK, US, or Australia, even without scholarship support.
- Fudan's medical, pharmacy, and life-sciences programs are regionally recognized and draw students from South Asia; its 18 affiliated teaching hospitals provide clinical training exposure that few universities in the region can match.
- Post-study work rights in China for international graduates are limited compared to countries like Canada or Australia, students typically need a sponsored work visa, so Fudan suits Nepali students primarily targeting academic careers, research, or returning home with a globally recognized credential rather than those seeking long-term Chinese employment.
