About Nankai University
Nankai University is a leading public research university in Tianjin, China, founded in 1919, ranked among China's top institutions for sciences and humanities.
Nankai University is a comprehensive public research university founded in 1919 in Tianjin, China, and is directly administered by China's Ministry of Education. It operates 27 colleges and schools across two campuses, the Balitai campus in Nankai District and the Jinnan campus in Jinnan District, and enrolls approximately 33,000 students.
The university has particular strengths in chemistry, mathematics, economics, history, and business, and has been designated one of China's Double First-Class universities under the national excellence initiative. Its chemistry and physics departments have a strong research track record, including recent work on perovskite solar cells and solid-state battery technology published in Nature.
Tianjin is a major port city and economic hub located about 30 minutes by high-speed rail from Beijing, giving students practical access to China's capital while living in a considerably more affordable city.
